Traditional medicinal knowledge has made and still making a significant contribution to the development of contemporary medicines and therapies for treating communicable and non-communicable disorders.

However, in African Traditional Medicine and in particular, Nigerian ethnomedicine, the need for scientific validation in ethnopharmacology has yielded fantastic outcomes in herbal product development resulting in the growth of the herbal supplement market into a multibillion-dollar industry in many developed countries (including China, USA, Germany) excluding Africa; this is despite the rich tropical plant biodiversity as well as historically broad Traditional knowledge of African populations on the medicinal uses of plants.

Interestingly, Africa is gradually waking up following radical documentation of its Traditional knowledge, standardization of African medicinal plants and publication of such in national pharmacopoeias.  As a result, more evidence-based herbal supplements of African origin are gaining acceptance in the global market.

To fast-track this growth curve in line with AREtC’s goal and vision, Adina center provides ethnopharmacological services in primary data collection from Traditional Medical Practitioners, data analysis, medicinal plant collection, GPS-guided mapping of the study area, writing for publication and consultancies on the choice of journal for impactful publication. Our services target students, Postdocs, researchers, lecturers, local healers and other interested members of the global community.
